Noirette series (JBF), #3 of 8

Dinner at the country club was pleasant. His talk with the heiress stayed light, nothing beyond his reach, no awkward moment lingered. The sports & weather pleasantries masked his need for information. His impatience raged like a pit bull on a leash. The only thing that deepened was the heave of her chest as she leaned on his words. Her pearl necklace rose & fell and rose. They looked real. The pearls.

Noirette 4-line series (JBF), #2 of 8

April & it was wet. The rain came down like April showers. Water ran in the gutters like gin at Jimmy's bar when Hammer was drowning his sorrows or making them. He pulled on the collar of the trench coat, kept his pace slow and steady.  In his pocket, Hammer slipped his fingers in and out of the brass knuckles. Like four rings for four skirts he had chased. But this was different. Right? The night did not get any lighter.

Noirette 4-line series (JBF), #1 of 8

It was a warm, moist night in Rochester. The fog from the lake clung to the buildings and trees along the sidewalks like chiffon on a hot blonde on a tropical night.   Mike Hammer could feel the sweat of  his palm as the door eased open.   His breath was shallow and his finger squeezed the trigger slowly, pulling it gently toward him.  Hammer time.

Meeting at the Market - photography exhibit at the Link Gallery

Meeting at the Market: Photographs by Margaret Miyake
The Link Gallery at City Hall, May 4 - August 2, 2010
Meeting at the Market, a photography exhibit by Margaret W. Miyake, will be on display at the Link Gallery at City Hall, Rochester, New York, from May 4 to August 2.  The opening reception will be Friday evening, May 7, from 5:00 to 6:30.  The public is welcome.
Rochester Public Market shoppers, including gourmets and chefs hunting for the finest ingredients, "Locavores" and "Slow Food" advocates seeking locally-grown organic food, recent immigrants looking for unique ethnic foods, and everyone interested in good food at reasonable prices have been coming to the market for over 100 years. Meeting at the Market documents this well-established, traditional food chain, from farmers working their land to selling their produce at the Rochester Public Market. It's a great way to see where your next meal could come from.
Miyake has been photographing at the Rochester Public Market since 2006. In 2009 she received an Individual Artist Grant from the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester to photograph farmers in Monroe County on their farms and at the market. Miyake has also worked at the George Eastman House in the Education Department utilizing photography as a teaching tool.  She has been actively photographing for freelance articles and personal projects.  According to Miyake, "Photography is my way to observe the world and express the fascination and interest I find in people and places."

July 30, take down exhibit from 1-4 pm.

Timothy has a release form the college requires all exhibitors to sign. Each exhibitor is responsible for the insurance on the work.

We will need volunteers for the hanging and take down. We will need to have some coordination of the reception activities.

Can we get a list of Alumni that would be exhibiting? Please get the news out to the blog. I haven't signed up for it yet. Does anyone have an update of the exhibitors?

We also discussed doing an ABG Chinese New Year lunch downtown next year. I bet Alice Chen would like that. Can we ask the group if there is interest. Empire State College and ABG.
One other thing. I will send an announcement for Albert Paley at the Mag with ESC for 10.00 per person on May 6th at 5:00 pm. Timothy has extended the event to ABG.

See you soon,

Best Regards always,
Helen
